The Artex C406-2 ELT transmits location information on all three emergency frequencies (121.5, 243.0, and 406 MHz) after a crash has occurred. The C406-2 transmits the standard swept tone on 121.5 and 243.0 MHz and also transmits an encoded digital message to the Cospas-Sarsat satellite system at 406 MHz, which makes it easier for rescuers to quickly identify victims while reducing search times. The C406-2 differs from the C406-1 in that it is a dual output device and uses NC (f) connector output for 121.5 and 243 MHz while the 406 MHz signal is transmitted through a TPS (f) connector. Latitude and longitude data can also be transmitted as part of the 406 MHz message when the C406-2 is interfaced with the optional Artex ELT/NAV interface.
- Operates on 121.5, 243, and 406 MHz frequencies for worldwide coverage
- Compatible with the ELT to navigation interface
- Single-directional and multi-directional G-switch versions are available for fixed wing and heli aircraft, respectively
